Hey family,
I was behind someone on the way home from Idaho Falls the other day and they were swerving all over the road. I stayed behind her because it seemed safest. I kept a close eye on the driver to see if they were okay, I thought maybe they were ill or drunk. After a few minutes I could see the driver hang up her cell phone and her driving returned to normal. I don't think she had any idea what a danger she had been.
I see people text all of the time. I so often am waiting at a 4-way stop for another person who is texting instead of realizing it is their turn to go. It is so very dangerous to text and drive.
I am writing to say PLEASE DON"T TEXT AND DRIVE!!!
Even talking on the phone makes you as likely to get in an accident as being drunk on 4 glasses of wine, beer, or 4 shots of booze.
I am hanging up my phone while on the road. NO MORE! The risks are too great and we all think we can do it and we all think we are fine. How devastating if we were to kill or be killed because of a silly phone.
With all the technology and fancy phones that people in the family are accumulating, please don't use it while driving! Please!
Love,
Jessica and Ben

I know how some of you feel about Oprah. She is not my hero and she is not always right, but about this, she is right, and I'm not saying it because Oprah said it! I'm saying it because it's true!!!

I agree guys! It makes me very nervous to see people talking and especially when they are texting while driving. I remember getting in a small accident once when the person who was driving was on their phone and didn't realize the light had turned red. Luckily it was just a small fender bender, because I was in the front and not wearing my seat belt (also very stupid). It is easy for me to say that I don't talk or text on my phone because...well...I don't have one.
